Are the sunglasses covered by warranty?

The sunglasses on our website are produced by different brands, each of whom has warranty policy against manufacturing defects. All warranty requests have to be done to the manufacturer / brand directly. If you don’t know how to get in touch with the manufacturer/brand, contact us at hello@wooden.ly and we’ll give you the right contact details.

Wood sunglasses? Wait.. are they fragile?

Most of the sunglasses on Wooden.ly are produced with high quality materials, with special design to guarantee the items to last long and resist against hits, but please don’t forget they're made out of wood, and wood isn't metal or plastic. It's wood, mate!

We do recommend that you keep them in a hard case whenever possible, in order to protect them from impact.

And are they durable?

Wooden sunglasses are more delicate than usual sunglasses, nevertheless if you treat them carefully they will last for years.

Are wood sunglasses light?

Indeed: most of the people that try some wood sunglasses for the first time are amazed by how light they are. Specific design allows wooden eyewear to be even lighter than plastic and giving a perfect comfort wearing them.

Can wood sunglasses get wet?

Yes, all the models have a special treatment for water or sweat. Some of the sunglasses – specially the bamboo models – even float.

Are they prescription-ready? Can I add my RX lenses?

Wood is not as flexible as plastic or metal, so only expert optometrists are able to add prescription lenses to them. Some brands/manufacturers – though – have created prescription-ready models: check the description of each model we have on the website to make sure you’ll be able to add your RX lenses.

What about the quality of the lenses?

Lenses materials and types depend on each brand choice or model. To have all the information about the details of the model you like, make sure to read the product description: info about lenses is always included.

Most brands – though - use CR-39 plastic lenses. The CR-39 lenses are half the weight of glass lenses, have better ultraviolet (UV) light protection, have a great resistance to shattering. Moreover this kind of lenses usually have an added scratch-resistant coating.
Most of the models lenses are polarized.

Sorry… Polarized?

Polarized lenses block the glare and allow to see clearer and further. Great for outdoor activities such as boating, snow sports, driving.

How do I take Care of wood sunglasses?

Use tap water and a microfiber cloth to clean any grease marks on your lenses.
Gently dry the lenses with the micro fiber cloth to remove any smudges. Lens specific cleaners also work.

For a day-to-day care, we recommend to keep your wood sunglasses in a safe place (better not to store them in your pocket, backpack, or too hot places such as your car in a sunny Mediterranean summer day…)
Also, keep them in a hard case whenever possible, in order to protect them from hits and impacts.

Are wooden sunglasses sustainable for the environment / eco-friendly?

Wood is a great medium to work with as it is naturally very strong and can be made lightweight.
All the brands we have in our shop are doing as much as possible to respect the environment when it comes to manufacturing: Wooed and Proof work with old skateboard decks, Ballo with re-purposed furniture wood, Woodzee produces from sustainable grown bamboo and plant a tree for every sold sunglasses.
The wood used for making sunglasses is coming from certified sustainable or managed sources. Moreover materials such as bamboo are perfect for making products as bamboos are some of the fastest-growing plants in the world.
